Typography Assessment – Graphic Design Diploma, Torrens University
Grade: Distinction (83.5/100)

This four-page A5 flyer was created for a university assessment brief requiring a promotional program for Brisbane City Council’s annual Summer Latin Festival, Fiesta de Verano. The project focused on typographic excellence, layout structure, and cultural appeal.

Using only two type families and provided assets, I designed a custom wordmark for Fiesta de Verano to reflect Latin vibrance and movement. The 3D bursting effect and warm colour palette evoke the energy of the festival while maintaining readability and grid alignment.

Key goals of the brief included:

* A strong visual hierarchy and typographic flow

* Effective use of grid systems and layout alignment

* Emphasis on the event name via a custom-designed wordmark

* Audience engagement with accessible type and image pairing

Feedback highlighted the wordmark’s impact, overall layout quality, and type choices. Suggestions to remove a drop shadow and change font colour were implemented for the final version shown here.
